Also, it is possible that the camerate-camellate transition is ontogeny-related and positional-influenced (we found this in Tataouinea, with anterior sacrals camellate and posterior sacrals semicamellate). So, I feel that several alternative placements of the Thecocoelurus holotype are subequal in steps.
Andrea Cauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10855060597677361866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2156944512466583246.post-86718277361762140132014-06-03T03:15:14.735+02:002014-06-03T03:15:14.735+02:00I agree Thecocoelurus seems camerate, now that you...I agree Thecocoelurus seems camerate, now that you point that out. But that's unlike ornithomimosaurs and neoceratosaurs as well. Pneumatization being more extensive is too vague without further specification. Neural canal size is correlated to individual size, so is expected to be larger in the smaller Thecocoelurus. What was camerate in the Cretaceous anyway? Just dromaeosaurids?Mickey Mortimerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08831823442911513851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2156944512466583246.post-14260948283219629902014-05-27T13:54:07.572+02:002014-05-27T13:54:07.572+02:00See edit: when Valdoraptor is excluded from analys...See edit: when Valdoraptor is excluded from analysis, the Thecocoelurus and Angeac couple turn out among ornithomimosaurs.
Based on Naish and Martill fig. 2B, Thecocoelurus seems camerate and not camellate as in Falcarius. Also, according to Zanno 2010, Falcarius pneumatisation appears as more extensive than in Thecocoelurus. The neural canal in Thecocoelurus is larger than in Falcarius, Andrea Cauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10855060597677361866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2156944512466583246.post-8943313652929083472014-05-27T13:30:33.870+02:002014-05-27T13:30:33.870+02:00Due to the results of my study, I'm curious wh...Due to the results of my study, I'm curious which characters of Thecocoelurus and Falcarius are coded with different states.Mickey Mortimerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08831823442911513851noreply@blogger.com
